Cost, HOA approval, how it looks in daylight, what happens when something breaks. If yours is not here, call and ask.
The Basics
-
It is a low voltage LED system installed once into a channel fitted under your soffit. The bulbs stay in place year round and you change what they do from an app. Trimlight introduced the category in 2010 and the system has been refined steadily since.
-
No, and most owners are surprised how little of the year they use it that way. Warm white accent on a schedule is what runs most nights. Holiday colour, game day and Halloween are things you switch to for a few days at a time.
-
Against a one off decoration it looks expensive. Against what you already spend every year on installers, replacement strands and storage, plus the weekends it costs you, the numbers close quickly. It also adds a permanent architectural feature to the house.
-
Bulbs are rated past 50,000 hours. Used seasonally, components typically last decades. Run every night for long stretches the working life shortens accordingly, which is why we set sensible schedules with you at handover.
Installation & HOA
-
A trained technician fits the patented channel under the soffit. All wiring and electrical components sit inside the channel, protected from weather and hidden from view. Runs are planned around gutters and architectural detail rather than through them.
-
Most homes are completed in a single day depending on size and roofline complexity. Commercial buildings vary and we schedule those around opening hours.
-
Almost always. The usual objections to seasonal lighting are visible clips, cords and decorations left up out of season, and none of those apply. The channel is matched to your trim colour and reads as part of the house. If your board requires formal review we prepare the documentation.
-
The system can be removed and refitted for a service fee, and extended if you add to the house. Your warranty is unaffected by either.
-
No. The channel is installed to work around gutter runs and downspouts. Drainage behaves exactly as it did before.
Technology & Control
-
It is built for people who do not want to learn a new app. Pick a colour, pick a pattern, save it. We set up your first scenes with you at handover so you are not starting from a blank screen.
-
Up to 30 different colours in a single pattern, with up to 90 bulbs assigned per colour. More range than most people ever use.
-
Yes. Long press any colour circle to slide through the full spectrum, or type exact RGB values. Useful for matching a team or a brand precisely.
-
Yes. The Edge controller pairs with both for voice control of on, off and colour changes.
-
Yes. The system is cloud connected so you can change anything from anywhere with a signal. People use this to light the house before they arrive, or to vary the pattern while away.
-
Yes. Zones let you treat the front, garage, patio and pool as separate areas, each running its own colour and pattern.
-
Yes, as long as they do not overlap. A common setup is a calendar event for the evening with a daily timer picking up afterwards through to the early hours.
Cost, Warranty & Value
-
Every system is manufactured for the individual property, so pricing follows the roofline. Length of run, number of storeys, roof complexity and how much coverage you want are the main factors. We measure in person and quote a fixed figure.
-
Because a phone quote is a guess. Walking the property is the only way to see roof pitches, the detail worth lighting and the practical constraints. It also means the number we give you is the number you pay.
-
A lifetime product warranty on the core components. If a bulb, controller or power supply fails under normal use it is covered. You call us and we bring the ladder. Labour terms are explained in writing before you commit.
-
The rest keep working. Unlike a series wired strand one failure does not take down the run, and we replace the faulty bulb under warranty.
Living With It
-
Each 3L bulb draws 0.9 watts and each Classic draws 0.6. Across a typical roofline running through the evening that is a few dollars a month, a fraction of what old incandescent strands used.
-
Practically none. Nothing to install, remove or store. Occasionally wiping dust off the channel keeps output at its best. That is the extent of it.
-
The bulbs are built for permanent outdoor exposure and rated IP68. Sun, rain, heat and ice are all within the design envelope.
-
Yes, 12V. That is one of the reasons it is safe to have permanently installed across a roofline.

Commercial
-
Commercial channel carries larger, brighter bulbs with 12 inch spacing as standard, designed to be read from much further away than a residential system needs to be.
-
Yes. Exact RGB values can be programmed and saved so your building runs your brand colours year round, switching to seasonal or promotional looks whenever you want.
-
The recurring cost of hiring installers each year, removal in January, storage, and the liability of ladder work. Running cost is also well below traditional seasonal lighting.
